This photograph is from when I, (on the right), was 4 years old, and my younger sister was 3 years old. As I worked this week on the subjects of relationships and attachment, I was led to read about the attachment between siblings. I often felt like a maternal figure to my younger sister with a feeling of responsibility to take care of her. This photograph reminds me of our relationship and the connection relationships have to child development.
My name is Ms. Marley and I am an early childhood educator. I knew at a young age I wanted to be a teacher. I toyed with the idea of pursuing other careers, but ultimately knew my calling was to be a teacher. This coming school year (2015 – 2016) I will be teaching 3rd grade. I have taught grades K-4 and have taught a multi-age 2nd/3rd grade class. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Master’s degree in Elementary Reading and Mathematics. I am currently in pursuit of obtaining my Specialist’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
The purpose for this blog is to help me communicate with colleagues who are also pursuing their Specialist’s and/or Doctoral degree in Early Childhood Education. I am an extremely passionate teacher and want to be the best educator I can be. I also hope to influence others through my practices and knowledge in the Early Childhood field. Food for Thought: What are some of your most valuable memories as a child? What makes you passionate about the early childhood field? |
